NBC NEWS — Former South African President Nelson Mandela remains in serious but stable condition for the fourth day in a Pretoria hospital.
The 94 year-old is being treated for a reoccurring lung infection.
People in Pretoria said Tuesday morning that they're hoping for the best.
Mandela has been vulnerable to respiratory problems since contracting tuberculosis during the 27 years he was a prisoner of the apartheid government.
He was freed in 1990 and was elected president in 1994.
