Austin, TX — The NM State track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition in the 2013 NCAA Regional Round on Thursday, May 23, at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Senior LaSasha Aldredge and junior Brianna Cromartie competed in the preliminary round of the 400-meter dash, while senior Courtney Schultz took part in the preliminary round of the 10,000-meter run.
Both Aldredge and Cromartie qualified to run in the semi-final round of the 400-meter dash. Aldredge ran in the second heat and finished second with a time of 53.02. Cromartie ran in the fifth heat and finished with a time of 53.86.
Schultz finished the 10,000-meter run with a time of 37:17.55 but did not qualify for the next round. Schultz ends her season and career as an Aggie with this run. She competed for four seasons in a variety of events including both indoor and outdoor track and field seasons as well as cross country. Schultz leaves NM State ranked second all-time in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 34:42.21.
The semi-final round of the 400-meter dash will be held on Friday, May 24. Aldredge, Cromartie and junior Alishia Perkins will also compete in the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash.
