El Paso — City Manager Joyce Wilson has been selected as the state’s Top Public Works Leader for 2013 by the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association (TPWA).
The recognition honors individuals for excellence in their career-long achievements, expertise, service and dedication to improving the quality of life in the communities they serve. The City of El Paso also earned three other TPWA honors:
• Technical Innovation Award for the Department of Transportation Anti-Graffiti Program
• Exceptional Performance Award for the Environmental Services Department Collections Division
• Project of the Year, Disaster or Emergency Construction/Repair for the Saipan Ledo Park Pond
The awards will be presented to the City of El Paso at the TPWA Annual Meeting held June 5-7, 2013 in Waco, Texas.
The announcement of the awards coincided this year with National Public Works Week, which is celebrated annually from May 19th – 25th by the American Public Works Association.
National Public Works Week raises awareness of the important contributions of public works professionals and the crucial role that infrastructure, facilities and services play in the quality of life in all communities.
