El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Every year Cohen Stadium treats local third through eighth graders to a free game of baseball.
It happens right after they take the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR Test. The free game at Cohen, may not happen next year even though the Diablos have an agreement to play here until 2016. Next spring a new baseball team will call downtown home and there is a big question mark as to what the Diablos will do, for that matter what will happen to the stadium.
Last year there was a City Council press conference talking about different uses for the park, everything from a baseball complex to a water park was on the discussion table. No plans have been disclosed from the Diablos and the Northeast's City Council Representative Carl Robinson calls everything he has heard speculation.
