A woman's handbag may contain more germs than the average toilet flush!
Swab tests on a variety of handbags revealed 20 percent had toilet levels of bacteria and enough to cross-contaminate other surfaces. The handles of a purse contained the most germs and leather handbags were the most likely to have high levels of bacteria. Items inside purses -- especially lotions, lipstick and mascara -- were also contaminated.
Experts say it's highly unlikely people could get sick from their handbags, but they suggest using anti-bacterial wipes to clean the bottom and handles on a regular basis.
