El Paso — UTEP freshman forward Chris Washburn is under investigation after a Saturday night incident at a west side El Paso bar.
Police responded to a call at the Palomino Bar, by the UTEP campus, for an alleged assault involving three men and the club's bouncer.
Witnesses could not positively identify Washburn but he is under investigation. No arrests have been made.
UTEP Coach Tim Floyd and Athletic Director Bob Stull are both out of town but Stull did release this statement to NewsChannel 9:
"The investigation is ongoing, and it would be inappropriate for us to comment at this time."
Washburn averaged 4.4 points per game for UTEP during his freshman season with 2.9 rebounds and .5 block per game. He averaged 14.9 minutes per contest.
