VADO, N.M. — It took three years and the hard work of a lot of people but now Vado Park and Trail will officially open to the public.
The trail near Vado Elementary was built through the combined efforts of about a dozen teenagers and sponsorships from the community and local businesses.
The trail features four shaded canopies and five benches around an abandoned irrigation canal.
The 2,100 hundred foot trail was paved by an in-kind donation from Cemex.
An official grand opening will be held Friday at 1pm near the intersection of Holguin Road and Vado Elementary.
