El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A local ankle-biter is now suing the city and county over domestic partner benefits.
Carl Starr is jumping on the heels of the Texas attorney general's opinion released Monday.
That says local governments giving benefits to same-sex and unmarried heterosexual couples are doing so in violation of the Texas constitution.
The local suit claims the City and County are overstepping their power and is looking for damages for county taxpayers.
The cost of domestic partner benefits is estimated at $24,000 a year for the city.
