El Paso, TX (KTSM) — According to an arrest affidavit, El Paso County Sheriff's deputies found a clear plastic baggie with two grams of marijuana in one of the bedrooms of Jesse Gandara Jr.'s home Thursday. Deputies arrived at Gandara's Socorro home with a search warrant at 11:40 a.m.
The drugs weighed approximately 2 grams. After finding the drugs, deputies requested an additional search warrant. A deputy with a narcotic detection dog was also called to the scene.
Investigators searched the outside of the home and found 15 chickens and roosters on the property, along with 16 chicks. According to the affidavit, three of the chickens were dead and other chickens were reportedly pecking on their carcasses.
A small black terrier at the home was also reportedly, "grossly infected with fleas."
Gandara was charged with possession of marijuana and animal cruelty. He bonded out of jail early Friday morning.
