LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Dozens of fans came out to support Las Cruces Champion Boxer Austin "No Doubt" Trout Tuesday morning as he left for San Antonio for his upcoming fight.
Trout left Las Cruces escorted by the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department after signing hundreds of autographs and taking countless photos with supporters.
"The support is wonderful," Trout said with a huge smile on his face. "Just to see all these people out and just excited to be here to see me go fulfill my dream is awesome."
Fans said they are proud to have Trout represent them and their city.
"He's always been there for the community and we're just here supporting him giving something back to what he's given to us," said Angel Berumen, who came to see Trout from Anthony, New Mexico.
Trout credits the love from fans for helping him throughout his career.
He hopes to continue his success with back-to-back wins against strong opponents and feels prepared for the challenge after weeks of training.
"I feel great," Trout said. "My weight is good my spirits are high and I'm full of confidence."
Similar to his fight against Miguel Cotto in New York, Trout will be heading into somewhat hostile territory in San Antonio with most of the fans expected to back Canelo Alvarez.
But Trout expects he will have plenty of fans in his corner.
"I have a good feeling that Trout Nation is going to be in full force," Trout said. "I know that a lot of Las Cruces and borderland folks are coming out, so we might have a little crowd of our own."
Trout said he predicts a victory and if it goes the distance it will be a long night for his opponent.
"I know I'm going to win, my hands will be raised by the end of the night," he said. If he's going to fall before the 12th round that's up to him."
The fight is Saturday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
