After 13 spring football practices, UTEP head football coach Sean Kugler told Newschannel 9 Monday that Sophomore Blaire Sullivan has taken the lead in the quarterback battle.
Kugler told NC9 "At this point right now, he's our starting quarterback. This is the starting point for the Fall, but Blaire's done a nice job, he's sort of separated himself in the last three or four practices in my mind and he does a lot of nice things. He can make plays with his legs, when things do break down, and his throwing mechanics, coach Higgins has done a good job with him, and his mechanics have improved 100%."
7:00pm Friday, UTEP will hold their annual Spring Game at the Sun Bowl. Fan friendly events are planned before the game, and Kugler said today he expects the game to be more of a scrimmage or practice, and it will only last an hour.
