EL PASO — The candidates vying to become El Paso's next mayor fielded some tough questions tonight from religious leaders in the Sun City.
A forum was held at Praise Temple Full Gospel Baptist Church.
It was sponsored by the El Paso Pastor's Council, a group of 40 senior pastors from across the city.
Candidates were questioned about their religious beliefs, their moral codes, and their definition of marriage.
"I believe it's important because the redefinition of family today, the moral code of the family, and morality going on in the country is beginning to change and I believe that people need to really understand what the real Christian values are," said Bishop Harrison Johnson of Praise Temple Baptist Church.
Seven of the eight candidates attended Thursday's forum.
The only candidate not in attendance was current City Rep. Steve Ortega, who told organizers he had a prior engagement.
