Las Cruces, N.M. — A Las Cruces mother has been arrested for not feeding her child.
Las Cruces Police investigators say Sarah Chavez, 27, did not provide adequate nutrition for her 10-month-old daughter.
Police said the infant was underdeveloped and could not sit up on her own.
Chavez allegedly told police she would not feed her during the hours between 8:30 pm and 4:00 a.m. because she did not want her to get used to eating during those hours.
The infant only weighed 13 pounds and is now in the care of Child Protective Services.
