EL PASO — The El Paso Independent School District made public an audit report by Weaver, a private firm that led to the dismissal of some educators and administrators within the district.
A controversy began over the weekend when County Judge Veronica Escobar, who spoke with NewsChannel 9 as a private citizen, wrote a stern letter to the EPISD board. The letter was particualrly directed at the interim superintendent Vernon Butler. In the letter, Escobar asserted the board acted inappropriately when it recently dismissed some administrators including El Paso High School principal Kristine Ferret.
Escobar said part of the problem is that the board depended on a private firm's report concerning EPISD in the wake of the Lorenzo Garcia scandals.
The 86-page report identified 18 educators who allegedly played a part in the scandal.
