SANTA TERESA, N.M. — Security guards in the small community of Santa Teresa, N.M. say they haven't been paid in a month. Most of them have worked there for about 7 years, so they were patient when the checks started coming in late, but now they've had enough.
They've gone on strike.
On Sunday, they found a sign posted on the security building defending them. It said, "Security has not been paid in a month. Resident".
But security guard paychecks aren't the only thing falling by the wayside in Santa Teresa. Residents say they pay monthly bills for garbage, road and grounds upkeep, and security. Each of these things have been neglected at some point. So much so, that residents wonder what they're paying for.
We reached out to the owner and management at Santa Teresa. They've not yet returned our calls.
The country club was put on the auction block in October, with no bidders.
Owner Greg Collins owes more than $600,000 in back taxes.
