LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Las Cruces High School hopes to continue their dominance in New Mexico sports with the cheerleading squad headed for the state competition Thursday afternoon.
The squad received a proper farewell as they left for Northern New Mexico to try and repeat as State Champions.
"it would be amazing just to know that our hard work paid off and it would be a great feeling to know we could do it again," said Co-captain Ally Seacat.
A win for the squad would be the third major state title for the school with the football team and the boy's basketball team both winning state championships in the 2012 - 2013 school year.
The cheerleaders said they are focused and are ready to bring back another cheerleading title.
"It would be really good for our school to have more than one state championships," said Co-captain Gina Casciani.
