El Paso, TEXAS — A thirty-five year old man dies in a fiery car accident in the Northeast.
The accident happened last night on U.S. 54 South and Hondo Pass just before 9 p.m. The man was thrown from his 1997 BMW just before it burst into flames.
Witnesses told investigators the man was driving erratically and then tried to pass another car when he lost control, and swerved across all the lanes and hit a curb. The car overturned and landed in a ditch.
NewsChannel Nine was at the scene. The BMW was barely recognizable and the driver's personal items were strewn across the shoulder of the highway.
The accident is still under investigation and authorities will not release the man's identity until they have notified the next of kin. That man becomes the sixth person killed on El Paso roads this year.
