EL PASO — Church members of St. Mark's Catholic Church in East El Paso are reaching into their faith, thinking of whoever it is that spray-painted a desperate message on the church building.
NewsChannel 9 viewer Paul Levy submitted a photo Saturday of the message that reads, "God u left me. I need u, you didn't need me so I just got to tell u goodbye."
When he stopped to snap the picture, Levy said there was a group of young men outside crying at the sight of the words.
It is not clear who wrote the graffiti, but it was painted over by the time masses began Sunday morning.
El Paso Police said a witness reported seeing a man spraying the wall shortly after 4:00 p.m. Saturday. He was gone before officers arrived and they have not been able to find him.
Angeles Cadriel is a parishioner at St. Marks and said whoever did it is asking for help.
"He's screaming for help and since this is the church, it's God's house, what he's trying to do is send a message. He's screaming for help," said Cadriel.
