The Hanks softball team won the 10th annual Fox Country Championship today with a 5-2 win over Canutillo, thanks to Allison Alvarez. Alvarez won the 128-pound 4A State Championship in wrestling last weekend, then today, hit a solo home run for the Knights in the victory.
Also today in boys high school basketball, El Paso Harmony defeated Wellington, 70-51, to advance to the first ever state tournament in school history, the 1A State Tournament in Austin beginning March 7 at the Frank Erwin Center.
In TCAL State Championship, Faith Christian defeated S.A. Feast Academy, 86-74, their 4th state championship under head coach Ana Carroll. Ray Barreno led the Lions with 25 points, Richie Saldaña had 13 points, but also earned Tournament MVP honors.
