EL PASO- When it comes to heavy rain and storm water runoff, El Paso Water Utilities doesn't just want to dig a hole in the ground.
The newest retention pond at Gateway West and Luna Street in Central El Paso is ready for service. The only project left to complete is the landscaping surrounding this 3.6 million gallon pond. Natural grasses and low water use plants will compliment the area along with a park for residents to use. E.P.W.U. had invested almost $1-million dollars on this storm water pond project. The purpose is two-fold, keep I-10 from flooding and keep the value of the surrounding neighborhood with a attractive design.
The project is funded by the stormwater fee charged to customers on their monthly water bills.
