EL PASO — A parade through central El Paso Saturday morning marked the now-familiar tradition that celebrates February as Black History Month in the United States.
The parade route ended at Mary Webb Park, where celebrants continued to dance, eat and enjoy family activities.
One participant named Larry Watson has done his history on the event. "There used to be a Negro History Week," he says, and then after the 1940's, when Black History became a part of school curricula, it became something bigger.
"We're going to celebrate until 2000-forever."
