The New Mexico Department of Health is launching a new Heart Health campaign, aimed at educating Hispanic and Latina women in New Mexico about heart attack symptoms.
Health Secretary, Retta Ward and Governor Susana Martinez announced the new campaign on Thursday. The campaign is called "El Corazon de Nuevo Mexico: Protegiendo la salud de sus mujeres hispanas/latinas."
The New Mexico Department of Health is one of ten organizations to receive a grant from the U.S. Health and Human Services Office of Women's Health for the campaign.
Heart disease is the second leading cause of death among Hispanic women in New Mexico.
This new campaign will target women 50 and older.
