EL PASO — Evacuations and street closures in East El Paso after a gas line was ruptured.
It happened at around 8:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Montana Ave. Sioux Dr.
Police say a suspected drunk driver ran off the road and struck a gas line and a water line, snapping both of them in two.
Emergency crews arrived on scene and immediately began evacuating buildings.
We're told 10 to 15 people were evacuated, including a Subway restaurant.
Streets were also closed from Robert E. Lee to Sioux Dr., but have since reopened.
Texas Gas company has stopped the leak, but crews are still on the scene monitoring the situation.
