The New Mexico State equestrian team hosts Baylor, February 2, at the NM State Equestrian Center, beginning at 9:00 a.m. This will be the Aggies lone home event of the 2013 spring season and the final home competition for the team’s four seniors; Hannah Swarthout, Samantha Stephens, Megan Gould and Laura Bostwick.
“We are really excited to kick off the spring semester with Baylor this Saturday,” head coach Robin Morris-Walters said. “Now with two full time coaches on staff we are very happy with the way the team is riding and are looking better than ever. We expect the team to have a solid performance on Saturday.”
The Aggies faced Baylor at the Willis Invitational in September, falling 11-5. On the season, NM State holds a 3-5 overall record.
“This is the first class that I have been with since they have been freshman,” Morris-Walters said. “I have gotten to know these four wonderful individuals quiet well and they have been a vital part in the growth of this program.”
Megan Gould, Jessica Woolsey, Lauren DeVoe, Clarissa Edgerton, Brynn Larson will compete in the Horsemanship event, while Tara Wilson, Stefanie Story, Marissa Bartmann, Haley Newkirk and Larson will represent the Aggies in Reining, rounding out the Western competitors.
Representing the Hunter Seat team will be Hannah Swarthout, Amber Tassel, Laura Bostwick, Shannon Dooley and Emily McConnell in Equitation over Fences, as the Equitation on the Flat team will consist of Swarthout, Tassel, Bostwick, McConnell and Sydney Morse.
Results will be available on www.NMStateSports.com following the competition.
