It was a pink out at Coronado High School Tuesday night. The high school's basketball teams were raising awareness for breast cancer.
Students are honoring a woman dear to their hearts. Alice Chavez has triplets playing on the Girls’ Junior Varsity Basketball Team.
Before the start of the season, Chavez was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The students were decked out in pink to support Chavez and other people who have had breast cancer.
"I think that just brings unity for the community and shows that we support more than just athletics and we try to teach the kids that it's more about helping out the community and thinking bigger than basketball," said Girls’ Basketball Coach Kristi Graham.
The students also raised money and donated it to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. It will pay for several students to take part in the Race for the Cure on February 17.
