Iran reported it successfully sent a monkey into space.
The country described Monday's launch as another step toward its goal of a manned space flight. State TV said the monkey was sent up to a height of more than 70 miles on board a rocket. The monkey reportedly returned safely to earth.
As for humans, Iran has long said it aims to send an astronaut into space. The U.S. and others worry that technology from Iran's space program could be used to develop long-range missiles with nuclear warheads.
Iran joins 5 other countries who have flown animals into space...the U-S, Russia, France, China and Japan.
