Siblings charged in beer-run attempt

EL PASO — A brother and sister were charged after a failed attempt at a beer-run, police said. 

Gene and Valerie Sotela, 26 and 20 respectively, were involved in a beer run at a Circle K on 1600 Zaragoza. Police spotted red Mazda on Montwood that matched the description of the vehicle reported to be invovled in the crime. Both Sotelo siblings were in the vehicle, police said, in addition to three Bud tallboys believed to have been taken from the store. 

Police said they also found Gene in possession of cocaine. Both were arrested on charges of theft, while Gene Sotelo was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and warrants.
