Anthony Rotich earned his first indoor Conference USA Athlete of the Week honor on Tuesday.
The sophomore wasted no time in dominating the track, as the Miners opened the indoor season at the Cherry and Silver Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The All-American clocked in the fastest time in the nation in the 3,000m and mile run.
Rotich crossed the finish line with a personal-best and winning time of 4:08.48 in the mile. The distance runner didn’t stop there as he claimed another first-place finish in the 3,000m registering a time of 8:11.51. With altitude conversions, Rotich times check in at 4:03.07 in themile and 7:59.40 in the 3,000m, earning him the No. 1 spot on the Track andField Results Reporting System (TFRRS) leader boards.
