A Las Cruces man is dead after injuries he sustained in a crash on December, 26 police said.
According to police, Francis Crews, 66, died January 18.
Police said Crews was driving a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan eastbound near the 2900 block of north Main Street when a Nissan Xterra heading in the opposite direction tried to make a left-hand turn in front of him and both vehicles crashed.
Crews had his 17 year old grandson as a passenger. He too was thrown from the impact and taken to a Las Cruces hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The New Mexico medical investigator’s office reports that Crews died Friday from complications related to injuries he sustained during the crash.
Police said the driver of the Xterra, 61-year-old Kathleen Pass of Las Cruces, was cited for failure to yield.
Traffic investigators determined that Crews and his grandson were both wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Speed and alcohol were not contributing factors in the crash.
