EL PASO — Classes at UTEP resume on Tuesday, and there are changes for students and faculty who will be trying to drive onto campus.
During the winter break, UTEP installed several traffic control gates as part of its campus transformation project.
The goal is to make UTEP a more pedestrian-friendly campus with walkways and bike paths.
There are new traffic control gates at University and Sun Bowl Dr. and University and Oregon.
Students and faculty entering the campus at Rim and Hawthorne will need to swipe their Miner Gold Card to enter campus.
The gates will be in use from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, and will be raised after 5:30 p.m. every day.
UTEP officials also said the entrance on Randolph Dr. with access to Cardiac Hill has been closed off.
