WASHINGTON, D.C. — A viewer sent NewsChannel 9 an e-mail, concerned about how Congressman Beto O'rourke's office has been handling questions about gun control.
A representative told the viewer they couldn't disclose any information.
We sent Congressman O'Rourke the e-mail, and Thursday, O'rourke responded.
"Everything should be on the table, including better enforcement of existing laws, improved access to mental health treatment, and an examination of whether restrictions on high-capacity magazines or assault weapons would prevent future mass shootings," he said.
"If specific legislation comes before Congress, I will base my support on two simple criteria: will it make my constituents safer and will it protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners."
