LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A new unemployment claims website launched Sunday for the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solution has given users headaches as they adapt to the new system.
The department said they fielded 90,000 calls on Monday and Wednesday they said they took about 30,000 calls with the biggest issues being new user names and passwords.
"I think once we see all our individuals and our employers access the system this week, the learning curve as they access again to certify for benefits or log on and view their accounts, they will become more familiar and more comfortable," said Joy Forehand, spokesperson for the department.
The department of Workforce Solutions new website is designed to benefit employers and those filing claims by centralizing all the information in one place.
"We've been very excited with the success of the launch as well as some of the statistics we have seen over the last couple of days," Forehand said.
The program will allow claims to process faster but for now users will have to deal with new use rnames and passwords.
"Just continue to call if they need assistance," Forehand said. "We have lots of customer service agents here ready to help them."
