EL PASO — A dog fight turned deadly in the Lower Valley after a man gunned down his neighbor's pit-bull for jumping into his yard and attacking his Chihuahua.
The homeowner said he pulled the trigger and shot the pitbull to protect both his dog and more importantly, his family.
According to the neighbor who shot the pitbull, the dog jumped the fence and started attacking his a smaller dog.
He said he fired at the pitbull because he was afraid it would also attack his family. The pitbull survived and is going to be ok according to his owner.
The owner of the pitbull who wanted to remain anonymous also said the neighbor apologized and there are no hard feelings because he understands his actions.
"I don't blame him, I mean it's upsetting but he did what he did what he had to do, like I said earlier, if it was me and a dog was trying to attack my family, I'd do the same exact thing so i don't blame him for what happened," he said.
He says his dog is walking and will be ok after a trip to the vet.
