EL PASO — On Tuesday El Paso city council will discuss and then vote on awarding a 40-million dollar construction contract for the new downtown baseball stadium.
The job would be in the hands of Jordan/Hunt, a joint venture construction company.
Work on the ballpark is due to begin this spring, so that the stadium is prepared for the debut of the El Paso Padres AAA team in April 2014.
Much of the stadium cost is expected to be offset by the higher hotel occupancy tax passed by voters in November 2012
