EL PASO — Bakeries across the Borderland were busy making the traditional "Rosca de Reyes." El Pasoans lined up outside of Bowie Bakery in Downtown El Paso for the special treat.
The sweet, round bread celebrates Three Kings Day, a religious holiday that is celebrated every year on January 6th.
It commemorates the three wise men who traveled to see the newborn Baby Jesus and brought Him gifts.
The round shape of the bread is meant to represent a king's crown, and has a small plastic toy or figurine of the Baby Jesus hidden inside.
In some Latin-American countries, Three King's Day is considered more important than Christmas, and children wait until January 6 to open their presents.
