EL PASO — The slick roads from this week's snowfall resulted in more than 200 car accidents, which means a lot of people will be turning to auto shops for repairs.
The Better Business Bureau provided tips on finding a reliable shop and mechanic.
First, check the warranty. If the vehicle is still under warranty, the repairs may need to be done at an authorized dealership.
Next, ask around for recommendations. You can also request a list of BBB Accredited Businesses at www.bbb.org/search .
Remember to ask questions, and don't be embarrassed to ask for explanations.
Always get a written estimate for parts and labor before authorizing repairs
Once the work is done, get everything in writing, including an itemized bill and any guarantees.
If you have any doubts, you can check the shop's reliability at www.bbb.org .
