Engineers at Virginia Tech University have figured out why the flu is seasonal. In lab studies, the engineers found the virus flourishes when humidity levels are below fifty percent. When humidity rises, the virus is not able to infect cells as easily. However, that doesn't mean you can't catch the flu in the summer. In fact, they also found the virus can thrive when humidity is close to 100 percent.
