EL PASO, TX — Are you looking for a unique way to ring in the New Year? Then head over to the Fred Loya YMCA in El Paso on New Year's Day.
"Participants will jump in the swimming pool at the YMCA which is usually a chilly 45 degrees. People do it all around the world by jumping into freezing lakes and we are going to do it here in El Paso too, but we will use a swimming pool instead," said Bill Coon, Fred Loya YMCA Executive Director. "It's just something fun and unique to do."
The YMCA Polar Bear Swim is free but any donations to the YMCA of El Paso Strong Kids Campaign is appreciated.
The Polar Bear Swim will take place at the YMCA at 2004 Trawood in El Paso on January 1, 2013. Check in is at 9:30 a.m, and the "plunge" is at 10 a.m. Breakfast will be provided at 10:30 a.m.
