EL PASO — Strong wind gusts knocked down half a dozen power poles along I-10 West in Far East El Paso.
The lines went down Friday morning along I-10 West between Horizon Blvd. and Eastlake Blvd.
El Paso Electric crews on the scene said the strong winds snapped the poles at the base.
Gateway West was shut down to allow crews to replace the six power poles.
El Paso Electric crews said Gateway West will likely remain closed until at least midnight.
In Central El Paso, a semi-truck slid off the highway.
El Paso Police said the semi-truck was traveling on the U.S. 54 connector ramp onto I-10 East, when sleet on the road reportedly caused the driver to lose control.
No injuries were reported.
