They were partying in the City of the Crosses. Las Cruces High School held a pep rally and ice cream social Wednesday to recognize the 5A State Champion football team. The Bulldawgs defeated Sandia 35-28 on December 7 to secure the schools seventh State title and fifth under current head coach Jim Miller. The bleachers were packed as the team and coaches thanked the red, white and blue clad fans for all of their support throughout their 11-1 season.
Senior tight end and defensive end Kamryn Dixon said, "It's a crazy feeling and it hasn't set in all the way. We are just enjoying the ride right now. It was great that I did it with the team I did it with. It's just a great feeling."
A huge factory in their playoff run, Junior runningback J.J. Granados added, "It's an amazing feeling. This is what you work for. Three years I've been here, it's great that I was able to get a State Championship ring my Junior year. Now I need to come back strong and get another one for my seniors next year."
