Ordinance to Be Considered by City Council
EL PASO — Many hotel owners weren't happy with the hotel occupancy tax hike.
Now they may not like what else is in store for city council Tuesday.
If hotels don't pay their tax on time, or refuse to pay, a new ordinance being considered Tuesday would allow the city to fine the hotels up to $500, stop them from continuing to run the hotel, and sue them until the entire room taxes are paid.
The city's sent a bond proposition to the voters to raise the hot tax to pay for part of the triple a ballpark construction.
