HORIZON CITY, TX — The town of Horizon City held a ground-breaking ceremony this morning.
What better than a bunch of golden shovels to mark the occasion?
A new Wal-Mart Supercenter was scheduled to be built in the town, and construction to clear this area was slated for next week. The grand opening was expected to be September or October of 2013.
"Been a little residential community and have experienced considerable residential growth in the last 6-7 years and finally the retail is catching up with us, so this is a big deal," said Walter Miller, Horizon City Mayor.
Wal-Mart management expects to hire between 400 to 500 employees.
The new supercenter will be right across from City Hall, at the intersection of Darrington and Horizon Boulevard.
