UTEP Director of Athletics Bob Stull announced on Friday that the Miners have finalized their 2013 football non-conference schedule by agreeing to play at Texas A&M.
The game is set for Nov. 2, 2013 at Kyle Field.
“We have analyzed our 2013 scheduling carefully,” Stull said. “We have determined that it makes the most sense to play five home games due to the construction of the Centennial Plaza in the center of campus and the expansion of Sun Bowl Drive. At the same time, our fans will have six opportunities to see our team play with a game just up the road at New Mexico State. We will explore the possibility of playing seven home games once construction is completed in 2014, UTEP’s Centennial year.”
UTEP and Texas A&M have faced one another twice previously in 1984 and 2000, both at College Station. The Aggies are 10-2 this season and headed for the AT&T Cotton Bowl led by Heisman Trophy candidate Johnny Manziel.
The Miners will also host New Mexico (Sept. 7) and play at New Mexico State (Sept. 14) and Colorado State (Sept. 28) to round out non-league play.
UTEP last played five home games in 2002. The Miners’ full 2013 schedule will be announced in the spring.
