El Paso's Insights Museum will close its doors for good this month -- but another local museum is expanding.
In late January -- a new Lynx Exhibits will have opened its doors. It's part of a transformation to add to the experience of educating El Paso's youth through fun activities. Right next door to its current location downtown, the 33-thousand square foot addition will be open to the public on January 26, 2013 as the El Paso Exploreum. It will still be home to travelling exhibits, but the addition of S.T.E.M. subjects; Science, Technology, Engineering and Math will be the core of the new museum. El Paso's Insights Museum is being closed to make room for a triple a baseball stadium.
The El Paso Exploreum is also asking for help. They're looking for kids ages 8-18 to serve on an advisory board, telling the new museum what kids like and want for future exhibits. Interested kids should be familiar with social media, electronic communications, be committed to community service, creative and interested in, of course, museums. Free passes to the El Paso Exploreum for those selected.
Send an email with: name, age, school and a paragraph about why they would be a good museum advisory board member to info@LynxExhibits.com . Applications due by December 28, 2012. Call them for more information at 533-4330.
