EL PASO — The El Paso Independent School District got some feedback from the community tonight. Students, faculty, and staff at Irvin High School turned out for a public meeting to share their thoughts as to what they'd like to see in a new principal. The position was left vacant when former principal Luis Loya took another job in the district.
"I would like to see the principal come in and control the school and not let the students control it and that he has real knowledge of what he's doing," said Domita Annclerk, a paraprofessional at Irvin High School.
"What I want in a principal is a principal that's more involved with the kids, like hands on, that's actually doing stuff with us and a principal that's compatible with student's ideas. They're not just doing what they want to. They're also a part of us," added Indonesia McDowell, a student.
The district also hopes to hire a principal at Bowie High School. A public meeting was held there on Tuesday.
