If you or someone you love has battled cancer then you may have heard of a condition known widely among cancer patients as "Chemo Brain". It's mental fogginess and confusion that comes along with receiving chemo treatments and often continues even after the chemo ended.
Now scientists say they can actually see it. A team at West Virginia Medical Center performed brain scans on 128 breast cancer patients before, during, and after chemotherapy. The images measure how the brain is using energy and the researchers discovered that chemotherapy sets off very specific changes in several key parts of the brain that control memory and decision making.
