Did El Paso Lawyer Disrupt 2001 Trial?
EL PASO — The Texas State Bar disciplinary trial is set to begin Monday for high-profile El Paso attorney Teresa Caballero. This is different from the proceeding she faced in August along with her law partner Stuart Leeds. At that time, a court found Caballero guilty on nine charges of contempt of court, and Leeds guilty of seven. But this does stem from the same 2011 trial in which Leeds and Caballero helped win acquittal for their client, Judge Regina Arditti, on bribery and nepotisim charges.
The State Bar intends to determine whether Caballero disrupted that trial. Many of the accusations involve alleged remarks and gestures concerning the visiting judge from Brazos County Texas.
Leeds will face a separate bar trial at an unannounced date.
