EL PASO — The relocation of El Paso City Hall employees is beginning to have an impact on city services.
The food program will be moving out of the Tillman Center on Campbell St. in downtown to make room for City Hall employees who will have temporary offices there.
The move will impact food handler and food manager classes, as well as food permitting.
The food program offices at Tillman will be closing at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21 in preparation for the move.
Starting in 2013, classroom training will be outsourced to other local providers. Anyone wanting to register for a class will need to call the Department of Public Health 915-771-5702, or visit their location at 5115 El Paso Dr., which is where classes will now be held.
Food handlers can also obtain online instruction through a state-accredited food handler training program. A list of accredited programs is available through the Department of State Health Services at:
Those looking to open a new restaurant, or those with questions about food program permits, can visit the "One Stop Shop" located on the first floor of City Hall at 2 Civic Center Plaza.
The following is a list of Nov/Dec classes that will be offered at the new location:
Food Managers Class (English)
· December 1st - 7:45 a.m.
· December 15th - 8:00 a.m.
Food Handlers Class (English)
· November 30th - 11:00 a.m.
· November 30th - 3:00 p.m.
· December 14th - 7:30 a.m.
· December 21st - 10:00 a.m.
Food Handlers Class (Spanish)
· November 30th - 7:45 a.m.
· December 14th - 10:00 a.m.
· December 21st - 7:30 a.m.
