El Paso- Thieves beware...the GPS tracking technology in many electronic devices nowadays can lead to your arrest.
17 year-old Ricardo Sanchez found out the hard way. He was recently arrested on suspicion of Burglary of Vehicle. Sanchez allegedly stole an iPad from a car. The owner of the popular electronic device called police and during the investigation the tracking application was activated. The stolen iPad sent out a signal that led police to Sanchez's location. He was booked in the El Paso County Detention facility. The stolen iPad was returned to it's rightful owner.
Crimes of opportunity, that's what the police department call valuables left in plain site in your car. Their suggestion is to hide and secure them as we head into the holiday season.
