The University of Texas at El Paso has teamed up with Google to inspire future engineers.
The program is called Google DIVE, which stands for Developing Innovative Engineers.
Officials with Google DIVE were at the UTEP campus working with students from UTEP's computer science and computer engineering departments.
This program was designed specifically to strengthen freshmen students' commitment to and knowledge of the computer science field.
During the sessions, students participated in group activities with Googlers who traveled from across the country to present:
• Valuable leadership skills that can be used in school and during internships
• Opportunities that are available with a computer science degree
• Classes that students can take and industry programs/scholarships for which students can apply
• Skills to write a resume and interview tips
Google Senior Software Engineer, Raquel Romano says this program is important because "we get to know the students and in particular give them some strategies for getting through their undergraduate education"
Officials with Google DIVE will also be at UTEP campus working with students from UTEP's computer science and computer engineering departments Saturday, Nov. 10.
